Tampines MRT Exits A to G — Which Exit for What

Tampines MRT has 7 exits (A through G), but they are split across two physically separate stations 300 metres apart. Exits A–C belong to the East-West Line (EWL) elevated station; Exits D–G belong to the Downtown Line (DTL) underground station. Pick the wrong station’s exit and you surface on the opposite side of Tampines town centre.

ℹ️ Verified March 2026. Exit positions are permanent, but check on-site for construction diversions or temporary closures.

EWL Exits (A, B, C) — Elevated Station

The EWL station opened in 1989 and sits above ground, with three exits at street level around the station’s unpaid concourse. All three are close together but face different directions.

Exit A — EWL Side of the Bus Interchange

Exit A surfaces on the Tampines Bus Interchange side of the EWL station. It is the natural exit if you arrive on the EWL and want the bus interchange without crossing to the DTL side — though only street-level bus stops and the interchange’s outer area are accessible from here, not the sheltered berths. It also marks the start of the covered pedestrian walkway between the EWL and DTL stations. Barrier-free accessible.

Exit B — Tampines 1 (~3 min walk)

Exit B deposits you on Tampines Central 4, directly in front of Tampines 1 mall — a 3-minute walk at most. For residents of The Tampines Trilliant walking to the MRT on the EWL, Exit B is the usual exit point heading into the station, and the return exit when coming home. The walk from Exit B to Tampines Central 7 is approximately 12–14 minutes on relatively flat ground, partly sheltered. Barrier-free accessible.

Exit C — Tampines Mall & Century Square (~5 min walk)

Exit C is the mall exit. It surfaces near Tampines Central 5, facing Tampines Avenue 4 — the road that runs past all three Tampines malls. Tampines Mall is about a 5-minute walk; Century Square is right next door. Tampines 1 is a further 2–3 minutes along the same road. This is the busiest EWL exit on weekends and public holidays.

DTL Exits (D, E, F, G) — Underground Station

The DTL station opened in 2017 and is fully underground, with four exits surfacing at different points along Tampines Central 1. The station entrance/exit positions spread across a longer stretch than the EWL exits, so picking the right DTL exit matters more.

Exit D — Sheltered to Bus Interchange West (~2 min)

Exit D surfaces on the western side of Tampines Central 1 and provides the fastest, fully-sheltered route into Tampines Bus Interchange (sawtooth passing-through berths). No rain exposure at any point. Eastlink Mall — the retail strip built into the interchange building — is accessible through the same walkway. DTL Exit D is also the closest DTL exit to Tampines 1. If you are catching a connecting bus from Tampines, this is almost always the exit to use. Barrier-free accessible.

Exit E — The Trilliant / Citylife Walking Exit (9 min)

Exit E surfaces at 15 Tampines Central 1, on the northern side of the DTL station. This is the primary walking exit for residents of The Tampines Trilliant and Citylife @ Tampines — the walk from this exit to Tampines Central 7 is approximately 9 minutes, heading north along Tampines Central 1, with sheltered walkway coverage along part of the route.

Other destinations from Exit E: Tampines Concourse Bus Interchange, Sun Plaza Park, British Council Tampines, Hitachi Asia offices.

Exit E does not lead to Our Tampines Hub — use Exit F or G for OTH. Barrier-free accessible.

Exit F — Our Tampines Hub & Interchange End Berths

Exit F surfaces on the eastern side of Tampines Central 1 and is the main walking exit for Our Tampines Hub (OTH). It also leads to the end-on berths of Tampines Bus Interchange — the terminus bays where buses that originate and end at Tampines are parked. Nearby: AIA Tampines, OCBC Tampines Centre, Tampines Plaza, Masjid Darul Ghufran.

Exit G — Our Tampines Hub (Lift Only, Barrier-Free)

Exit G serves the same eastern Tampines Central 1 area as Exit F but is a lift-only exit, providing the only lift-served access on the DTL side. Use this exit if you need wheelchair or pram access to Our Tampines Hub or the end-on interchange berths. Barrier-free accessible.

EWL ↔ DTL Transfer: Step by Step

The EWL and DTL stations are in separate buildings — there is no within-paid-zone interchange at Tampines. To transfer:

  1. Tap out at the station you arrived at.
  2. Walk the covered walkway (~300 m) through the Tampines Bus Interchange area to the other station.
  3. Tap in at the destination station.
  4. Re-enter within 15 minutes on the same EZ-Link or NETS FlashPay card — the system treats it as one continuous journey with no double fare.

This is a common point of confusion for first-time visitors. Unlike Jurong East or Raffles Place where both lines share one paid zone, Tampines requires you to exit and re-enter. Budget an extra 5–7 minutes for the walk when planning connections.

Getting to The Tampines Trilliant & Citylife @ Tampines

Both condos are at Tampines Central 7, S528769 — within walking distance of the DTL station.

Option 1 — Walk via DTL Exit E (9 min, recommended in dry weather)

Use Exit E. From the exit, head north along Tampines Central 1 towards Tampines Central 7. The route is flat and straightforward; part of it is covered. This is the route used by most Trilliant residents commuting to the DTL.

Option 2 — Bus via DTL Exit D (best in rain)

Use Exit D and enter Tampines Bus Interchange. Bus services stopping near Tampines Central 7 include bus 65 and 291. The interchange connection from Exit D is fully sheltered from station to boarding.

Option 3 — Walk via EWL Exit B (~12–14 min)

Use EWL Exit B and walk along Tampines Central. Slightly longer and partially exposed — less convenient than Exit E from the DTL.
